UP-site, Brussels – Belgium

Brussels is rather hostile to the high-rise city. So when Henri Simons, then Alderman for City Planning in the City of Brussels, put forward the idea of constructing the highest residential tower in the kingdom (140 metres high for 251 apartments spread over 41 floors) on the site of the old Galeries Anspach warehouses, opposite Tour & Taxis, the project caused much ink to flow…A look back at an architectural saga in the company of the main actors on the UP-site since the acquisition of the land in 2005 and up to its inauguration in 2014.
