The Switch est le futur siège social d’Infrabel, situé à Saint-Gilles, à proximité de la gare du Midi à Bruxelles. Conçu par ArtBuild Architects et Gortemaker Algra Feenstra en collaboration étroite avec le bureau d’ingénierie Sweco, ce projet d’environ 35 000 m² a pour ambition de regrouper les activités administratives du gestionnaire du réseau ferroviaire belge au sein d’un bâtiment emblématique, durable et innovant.
L’architecture se distingue par une structure hybride bois, métal et béton, dont une tour de 16 étages culminant à près de 60 mètres, affirmant une présence forte dans le paysage urbain. Pensé pour accueillir environ 1 400 postes de travail, The Switch mise sur la flexibilité des espaces, le bien-être des usagers et une intégration fine dans son environnement.
Fortement orienté vers la durabilité, le projet vise une certification BREEAM Outstanding et intègre des solutions énergétiques performantes, des espaces verts et des dispositifs favorisant la mobilité douce. Plus qu’un simple immeuble de bureaux, The Switch incarne une vision contemporaine de l’architecture tertiaire, à la croisée de l’innovation constructive, de la responsabilité environnementale et de la transformation urbaine.

The Switch is the future headquarters of Infrabel, located in Saint-Gilles, close to Brussels South railway station. Designed by ArtBuild Architects and Gortemaker Algra Feenstra in collaboration with the engineering firm Sweco, the project comprises approximately 35,000 sqm of office space, accommodating around 1,400 employees.
The building stands out for its ambitious and sustainable architecture, based on a hybrid timber-concrete-steel structure, including a landmark 16-storey tower visible from the railway network. Conceived as a strong urban signal, The Switch targets a BREEAM Outstanding certification and integrates advanced solutions for energy efficiency, soft mobility and high-quality working environments.
Beyond its administrative function, the project reflects Infrabel’s ambition to create an innovative, sustainable headquarters that is fully aligned with contemporary urban and environmental challenges.
