Georges Meurant (1948–2023) fut un peintre et essayiste belge reconnu pour son travail riche en couleur et en géométrie, dont l’œuvre évolua vers une abstraction chromatique singulière à partir des années 1980. Né à Etterbeek dans une famille d’artistes, Meurant se distingue par sa création d’un univers pictural fondé sur des compositions de quadrilatères colorés, explorant les interactions tonales et les dynamiques visuelles propres à sa « champ figural ».
À partir de 2010, il a étendu son langage artistique à l’échelle monumentale en collaborant avec l’architecte et ingénieur belge Philippe Samyn, intégrant ses œuvres à des projets architecturaux majeurs en Belgique et à l’étranger. Parmi ces collaborations figurent notamment les décors du siège d’AGC Glass Europe à Louvain-la-Neuve (2014) et les vastes compositions polychromes du Bâtiment Europa, siège du Conseil européen à Bruxelles, où ses motifs colorés structurent plafonds, tapis et surfaces verticales sur des milliers de mètres carrés.
