Arian Schelstraete is an architect. He bought a former brewery warehouse on rue Fin in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean to build his home. He divided the building into 3 flats and a space on the ground floor available for quarters, for associations looking for extra space. To bring light into the heart of each flat, the architect designed a general skylight. This glazed space gives the building a new lease of life, but Arian wanted to preserve the traces of the past. The bricks have remained visible, as have the concrete ceilings. The roof has been transformed into a communal and convivial space to meet the new demands for well-being following the covid crisis. From up there, they can see the hustle and bustle of Brussels while remaining in the peace and quiet of their own home.

Arian Schelstraete est architecte. Il a acheté un ancien entrepôt brassicole à la rue Fin à Molenbeek-Saint-Jean pour y construire son habitat. Il a divisé le bâtiment en 3 logements et en un espace au rez-de-chaussée disponible pour le quartiers, pour les associations qui seraient en recherche d’un espace supplémentaire. Afin d’apporter de la lumière au cœur de chaque appartement, l’architecte a imaginé un puit de lumière généraux. Cet espace vitré fair entrer le bâtiment dans un nouvel usage mais Arian avait la volonté de lui garder les traces du passé. Les briques sont restées apparentes ainsi que les plafonds en béton. Le toit a été transformé en un espace commun et convivial afin de répondre aux nouvelles exigences de bien-être faisant suite à la crise de la covid. De là-haut, iels peuvent voir la vie tumultueuses de Bruxelles tout en restant au calme de leur habitat.
